Bhadra 13, Dhading – The metal company located on the boarder of Dhading and Rasuwa remained closed for the last 15 years.

The goverment has invested 18 crore for the infrastructure development for producing CGI sheets in the mine located in the lap of Mount Ganesh.

The CGI sheets produced from this mine can be used for coming 40 years and it has the raw materials of 700 crore(70 billion), if we calculate its income. But, why was it closed after investing 18 crore? Being the most important company for the overall economy of Nepal, political representatives and leaders are unable to make it an issue worth discussing.

Some private and government bodies made investment but the company did not run in the beginning. So, the then prime minister Madhab Kumar Nepal and his cabinet made a decision to elect Netra Paudyal from Dhading as the chairperson of the company.

Netra Paudyal, current chair person of Nepal Communist Party Dhading had submitted a report to the government showing that the mine could be operated jointly by a Chinese company having 13% investment and the government of Nepal in 2071 BS.

“The government can make enough income by selling the raw materials obtained from the mine,” said Paudyal to Dhadingpost. “I submitted a report to the government proving that the mine could be run after researching for two years when I was chairperson of the company.” He further mentioned, “Not only the raw materials for CGI sheets and glass, there is gold in the mine as found by the study.”

According to him, the mine can be operated without disturbing the tourist hub established in that area; so, it must be run. Paudyal is thinking of drawing the government’s attention towards the mine again.

However, a tourist enterprenuer and current president of Nepali Congress Dhading Ramesh Dhamala thinks differently. He says, “The company was to be closed. Our demand was so because the tourist hub would be destroyed if it was operated.”

“Even the locals wanted the mine to be closed. The company has destroyed the path to the Paldor base camp. And a large ammount of rubies and crystals are smuggled in the name of that mine,” said Dhamala.

In that mine worked 500 workers for 25 years continuously. About 300 workers were given salary and other facilities and told that the company could not run because of lack of investment in 2062.

Presently, the mine is closed but the government has employed ten people to look after the mine according to the former chair person Paudyal.

An engineer named Chakraborthy from Indian Virla Company tested the water flowing from Mount Ganesh in the Trisuli river in Rasuwa in 2025 BS and found that there were raw materials for producing CGI sheets and glass in that area.
