Very few people know that a German citizen has beem running a children’s home named Aasha Nepal in Dhading district. Even the District Children’s Welfare Comittees and the local levels are unaware of the Children’s home.

During her visit to Nepal in 2056, the German citizen Darthea showed her keen interest to help the orphans of Jharlang village by providing them with proper nourishment and education. Facilitating her, a local Maapan Tamang established the children’s home ‘Aasha Nepal’.

The German has been aiding the children’s home since 2056 BS. Established in Jharlang, Aasha Nepal was moved to Sankosh in 2058; however, It is presently located at Malebagar, Dhadingbensi.

Most of us have heard about the Children’s Future Organization Nepal (Children’s Home) established in Nilkantha Municipality, Sankosh by the President of Nepali Congress and tourish entreprenuer Ramesh Dhamala 17 years ago by receiving foreign aids. But this long-established children’s home carrying 21-year-old history remained unknown even to the District Children’s Welfare Committees and the local levels.

Although the orphanage was supposed to keep only ten girls attending primary school as per their plan, upto 12 children were kept and looked after at some point of time. The main goal of the orphanage has always been to help the orphan girls who are deprived of the basic education according to Tamang.

Seven girls are studying under their protection and care now. During our intercation with the founder Tamang, he mentioned the German Darthea provides 10 lakhs rupees annually to run the children’s home.

Tamang further stated he is worried about the children’s home as Darthea is already 90 years old and he maynot be able to support the institution anymore. There may not be any donor after his demise.

Nobody provided support to the Children’s home till now. Tamang is thinking of running the children’s home smoothly with the greater plans in the future if he gets support from other people or organizations.
