Direct Reconstruction of Infrastructure – Schools Component
Purnima: UK Support to Post-Earthquake Recovery in Nepal
Purnima is a five-year programme (2017-2022) funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and managed by Mott MacDonald. The objective is long-term positive change in the lives of people in four earthquake-affected districts (Gorkha, Dhading, Nuwakot, and Rasuwa) through:
1. Support to Government agencies at all levels in reconstruction planning and implementation.
2. Reconstruction of rural infrastructure: water supply, foot trails, footbridges, and schools.
3. Interventions to address constraints to the private sector in relation to construction.
4. A Challenge Fund to ‘leave no-one behind’ in the reconstruction and recovery effort.
5. Monitoring, evaluation and learning.
Purnima now invites interested Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to implement part of the school construction component under Output 2 as an Implementing Partner, for school construction in remote locations of the programme districts. It is anticipated that up to 30 basic schools (5-10 per district) will be constructed together with other infrastructure facilities as needed. The objective of this component is to provide a safe learning environment for children, through construction of classrooms, provision of WASH and other facilities, supply of classroom furniture, and related activities.
Eligibility criteria and details of required documentation for the EOI can be obtained by email from purnima@mottmac.com. Any corrigendum or addendum to this notice will be advised to applicants, and not be published in newspapers separately. The deadline for submission of EOIs is 5 PM, 2nd January 2019. Purnima reserves the right to accept or reject any or all applications without assigning any reason.
